Easy 8K

I’m back to outside running in the Netherlands. After three treadmill runs in the US last week I really wanted to go outside again.

I decided to an 8K easy run today as my legs and body are still a bit tired from yesterday’s overnight travel and jet lag.

I’m definitely not disappointed on how this run went. Being able to cover this distance, on this day, says a lot about how my body has been building up strength in the past 6 month’s.

On to a new week and more fun runs.

Just a run

Today is my last working day in the US for this week. I will be on a overnight flight back to Amsterdam later today. I’ve been here from Monday to Friday and tried to balance out the jet lag as much as possible by getting up early every single day. Because of that schedule I was able to carve in another treadmill run this morning. Yet again a 30 minute hill workout. I like these workouts as they help me build strength and it’s almost impossible to them at home.

I’m curious on my planned Sunday long run. Let’s see how that one goes this week.

Hill run on the treadmill

I did a similar treadmill run to the one I did in January. My intent was to do some outside running while I’m in the US for work. The reality is that my calendar is too packed and my daylight is already gone at 7PM. So back to the treadmill it is.

The recovery hill run that I did is nice one, I like it that the treadmill ensures that you keep running the same pace while the incline increases over time. It’s a good workout.

90 minutes long run

My third run of this week was a 90 minute long run at a pace of 6.40 per kilometer. This was a nice, slow and wet run due to some heavy rain halfway. Nevertheless, I’m happy that I went out and that all in all I had a good running week with a fast 8k run, a 30 minute recovery run and now this 90 minute long run.

My total running time for this week: 3:11:05 at an average pace of 6.17 per kilometer. I’m curious to what next week will bring as I need to combine my running with some long haul travel.

30 minute recovery

I managed to get another 30 minute recovery run in today. Not an easy thing today due to family logistics and rain and hail coming out of the sky at random times.

I’m already looking forward to my long run tomorrow. With that run I will complete another week of 3 runs in total.

I will be traveling to the US next week for work. I’m bringing my running material with me, so fingers crossed for some decent weather and nice tracks in the Montclair area.

Workshop bird photography

I joined Thijs yesterday morning for a workshop bird photography in the Biesbosch. It was nice to learn something new by Richard Verroen, who gave the private workshop and I could imagine going to area again for some more practice.

By the way, Thijs has a pretty nice photo on his own website too.

8k Tempo Run

As shared in my previous log I’m mixing my running habit a bit during the previous and current week. Instead of doing an early Tuesday morning run tomorrow, I did a Monday night sunset run.

Tonights run was a distance based tempo run of 12 km in total, which I did as an ‘out-and-back’. 6 km out and 6 km back home.

The goal of this run was to increase the effort given every 2km. All in all a very good workout.
